I have become accustomed to hearing from my friends such remarks as, “I wish you would teach me some of your Chinese cooking secrets, for I think this is the best meal I have tasted for a long, long time!” Or “Please write me your recipe for your spareribs (or soya chicken, or spinach, or fish, or sweet and sour pork or fried noodles) for I have never seen my husband and children enjoy them so much before; or better yet, let us sometimes invite our friends or family to your place, and let us pay for it!”
